2007-06-27 12:13 Been Away
I've been away for a while... my father was diagnosed with terminal lung
cancer. The doctors have given him 6 months to live.
I didn't get either job... the most promising one left a message
on my answering machine while I was out of town... they gave that position
to someone else; the other one did call me to tell me that the job
went to someone else, but they wanted to keep my resume around.
Let's just say that it's not the greatest news in the world, but
that's our lot in life... it's not a lot, but it's our life.
2007-05-16 20:43 Callback #2
Yes, you heard it right. I got a callback for an interview at the Herald
Times ( the local newspaper ). This one will be on Friday, the 18th at 2:00PM.
2007-05-14 19:36 Got a Callback
Just received a callback from the Kelly school of business. I've got
an interview on Friday, the 18th at 10:00AM.
2007-05-14 11:19 Belated Mother's Day
We went to Melinda's parents' house yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day.
Lish came down as well and received a Mother's Day card from Gus ( her dog ).
Melinda thought that up and Trish and Bruce got the card ready; Bruce printed
out a pawprint and Trish wrote like a 2 year old. It was pretty cool.
Well, Trish loves clocks, so Bruce and I found her a nice one at Goodwill.
Believe me, it was MUCH nicer than the clocks at Target.
On the job front, I called up Herald Times today to follow up on my
application for the Web Developer position. Kim Sutton told me that
they had not started interviews yet, but they would prolly get finalists
picked out next week 'n she'll call or email me if I'm one of them.
I'm also going to be looking for temp work today. wish me luck.
2007-05-04 07:38 Spidey?
Who all is gonna go see Spidey 3 today? I dunno if we'll make it,
since the earliest showing is at 3 PM! What ever happened to the
matinees???? The lines to this movie are gonna be ridiculous...
.
2007-05-03 23:14 Thank the Lanes
Thank Lane for bailing me out with some $$$!
I've gotta run around town looking for more jobs to apply for...
it's looking like it's tough to find a job in a college town.
I did call about the groundskeeping at the country club, but nobody's
returned my call yet. What IS it with people in this town? I apply
at places, or call about job positions and nobody returns calls?
Well, I'm gonna check out an optical place tomorrow for a receptionist
position & we're gonna see if Melinda can find a decent pair of glasses,
since she broke hers a while ago.
2007-05-02 23:14 Better Buy is a no
Called Better Buy today & it looks like they're gonna fill up all the positions
they were looking to fill.
Then proceeded to check out the classifieds for today to find the Herald-Times
was looking for a web developer. Could NOT find anywhere on their site to
apply ( like the ad said to ), so I emailed their "online manager". Hope something
happens there.
Also saw an ad for part-time groundskeeping work at the Bloomington Country
Club. I may need to check that out. Money is money and maybe there'll be
some golf perks? ;)
2007-04-28 23:22 Forbearance is a GO!
You heard that right! I got the letter from Direct Loans saying the auto
debit from my checking account has been suspended! Now, I really have to find
some income before it starts up again in 3 months.
2007-04-28 22:39 TV for Lish
Bruce ( Melinda's dad ) and Lish saw an unopened 40" tv dropped off at Goodwill's
processing center. So Bruce, Trish ( Melinda's mom ) and I went back to Goodwill
to find that tv. Turns out that the tv was sold about an hour before we got there --
for $600.00. Not a bad price.
We happened to find a 20 year old geography game for Bruce, who's a HUGE geography buff and
a frisbee for Gus ( Lish's Labra-doodle ) -- still no tv for Lish.
We were out and about, so we checked out Target's tv selection. There were some good prices
there, but,in true Target fashion, the tv's were not on the shelf. The selection was pretty
slim, so I recommended we head out to Better Buy.
We found the tv for Lish in no time flat. Sure enough, one of the tube tv's had really bad
picture quality, but that was fixed in no time by making some changes to the tv's image
controls. So, we had a discussion on whether to get the 24" tube tv ( the one with the
aforementioned image problem ) or the 20" flat display. We agreed that, even after the 24"
tv had been "cleaned up" to be as visually appealing as the HD tv's, the 20" tv was a
better buy at $5 more than the 24" tv. They LOOKED like they had the same screen size and
the clincher was that the tube tv's hump was VERY visible at about 145 degrees or so, as
opposed to the 20"; which looked as appealing no matter what angle.
Afterwards, we embarked on a trip through the appliances dep't. Trish explained to the
apples sales associate that she was pretty familiar with most of the appliances there and
he seemed pretty surprised that there ever was a degree given in consumer electronics.
Anywho, there were a few
refrigerators and stoves that Trish thinks may become a new part of her kitchen at some
point.
2007-04-27 00:14 Made the call to Better Buy
Ayup. I made the call to Better Buy in Bloomington to have the Ops person
take a note that one of my references was Mark Baird, GM of store 796 ( Jordan Creek ).
Asked if I was transfering, I responded that I used to work at Better Buy
a LONG time ago.
Hopefully the hiring person'll contact me in "a couple of days."
I just checked on my forebearance on my direct loans and it says they received my forbearance
letter on the 18th... about 8 days ago. This is pretty interesting, since we had an "UNAVAILABLE"
caller-id on our phone when we got back from dinner at Mally's parents' house... Hopefully,
it was them, 'course it could just have been UPS, since that guy missed us again.
Smallville had a pretty good episode today. Lex gets to see Clark with shrapnel in
his arm. There was Kryptonite in the corridors when the desperate housewife blew up
a bunch of the corridor... at least it allowed Clark and Lex to talk. Clark's thinking
that Lex might be his friend again, and Lex is playing the jilted ex-girlfriend card again.
What was really interesting was how adapt Lana was at becoming a Luthor.
2007-04-26 00:22 Hits4Pay.com
This is NOT a "Get Rich Quick" program.
The program is pretty helpful for students and the like...
you earn 2 cents for opening an email on your account page.
Hits4Pay currently has a $10.00 signup fee and if you sign up using
This Hits4Pay Link
I would get 1 cent for every email you open up.
When you sign up, you will
be able to do the same and have other people help you out as well.
2007-04-25 12:00 Rebuilding
